World Environment Day observed

Kakinada, June 5th: The World Environment day was observed here on Friday. In this occasion rallies and awareness programs were conduced at various places in the region. World Environment Day (WED) was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

Monsoon to advance in the state

Hyderabad, June 5th: With the formation of low pressure areas in Bay of Bengal the southwest monsoons are likely to advance in the state and will result in copious rainfall. The metrological department has predicted heavy rainfall over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Coastal Orissa.

Stations to monitor air quality

Rajahmundry, June 5th: To find out the levels of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and suspended particular matter in the air, the AP pollution Control Board authorities are going to set up centers to monitor the ambient air quality at select locations in both Kakinada and Rajahmundry.

Plans to conserve the power in East Godavari

Kakinada, June 4th: The rapid increase in power consumption has prompted authorities to go in for power saving in a systematic way. This is being taken up in a big way in East Godavari under power conservation. The NEDCAP (Non-conventional Energy Development Corporation of AP), East Godavari unit, was entrusted with effective implementation in all 290 welfare hostels (SC. ST and BC hostels) in addition to select villages in the district.

Online Registration process by RTA

Kakinada, June 4th: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of East Godavari has taken effective implementation for the online process of registration for new vehicles purchased from dealers. The system effectively replaces the present system of paying a temporary license fee for three months and life tax through E-Seva.

Housing official caught red-handed

Ravulapalem, June 2nd: Housing deputy executive engineer, Mr. Myla Lakshmana Swamy was caught redhanded by the sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau while accepting bribes worth Rs 2,000 from an Indiramma housing beneficiary on Monday. He was working as DE in Kothapeta. A case was booked and the official will be produced before the ACB court in Vijayawada.

Security guard found murdered

Kakinada, May 31st: Kale Guru Murthy (55), working as security guard in a readymade garment shop was found murdered by some unidentified persons here in the early hours of Saturday. On Sunday, early in the morning, locals identified him lying on the floor near the shop and informed the police.

BDS student commits suicide

Rajahmundry, May 29th: K. Amulya (20), a student pursuing first year Bachelor of Dental Science at Lenora Dental College committed suicide by handing herself with her chunni at her hostel room. The incident took place on Friday between 11.15 am and 12.15 pm.

3 held in kidnap case, boy restored

Kakinada, May 27th: Three persons including a woman were arrested in the connection of kidnap of a six year old boy Abishek on Wednesday night. The three day drama ended with the release of the boy and giving relief to the police as the boy is grandson of former Director General of Police, Mr. M.S Raju.

Couple commits suicide over insult

Kakinada, May 24th: Couple committed suicide by consuming pesticide at a local lodge here on Saturday. The couple were identified as Moka Vijaya Rao, 35 and Moka Varalakshmi, 30. They were the residents of Thimmapuram in Kakinada rural mandal of East Godavari District.
